Empty span will be removed on next edit.
First, this is wonderful. Second, I think the sample code should be something like
<span class="fa fa-camera"></span>. If there's just an empty span, it will save and work properly the first time, but the next time you edit the page those empty spans will be automatically removed from the code. By inserting a zero-width space like this, it preserves the "empty" span tags so they won't be cleaned out. 20:12, May 13, 2014 (UTC)
- After just testing it on this page, I'm not seeing that behaviour. Do you have any examples of the parser doing what you describe? cqm 23:50, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
New version 4.4!
Why we can't import the original CSS directly from fontawesome.io
- I'm going to assume you mean "Why we can't import the original CSS directly from MaxCDN (as recommended for ease by fontawesome.io), instead of the copy provided here on Wikia?" Technically you can. In CSS put:
I assume someone just copied it to Wikia so there was a stable, local copy. MaxCDN appears to keep older revisions of FontAwesome around, so using an older version shouldn't be a problem. Wiki admins would have to update the import statement every time the font is updated to get the latest font, and some admins are lazy. I suspect a better question would be "Why isn't the content of /code.css simply the @import statement above?" --Saftzie (talk) 21:26, April 16, 2016 (UTC)
New version 4.7.0
- Sorry for the delay, I didn't see your comment. Font Awesome 5.0.4 makes a lot of breaking changes from 4.7.0, so simply replacing it is out of the question. The developers have provided a shim for old icons, but I couldn't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. DarthKitty (talk) 08:14, January 17, 2018 (UTC)
