Kill visual editor focus is a set of CSS styles that allows you to remove the 'focus' from VisualEditor. This means the surrounding page will not be darkened and completely disabled while the VE is active.

Useful if you want to navigate to another page—in a new tab—to check information, find exact page names for links, etc. (especially if you make good use of other tools like Wikimarks to augment the default navigation menus).

Add the following CSS to your personal global.css or your local css on a specific wiki. Help:JavaScript and CSS Cheatsheet is a helpful guide.

/* Clear UI—blocking VisualEditor "focus" */ .WikiaMainContent {
    box-shadow: initial;
    z-index: 1;
    border: 1px dashed rgba(230, 126, 34, 0.35);
} {
    pointer-events: auto;
