Welcome[]

Hi, welcome to Wikia Developers Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the User talk:Pecoes page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Grunny (Talk) 09:24, 5 July 2012

global.js[]

global.js is intended to work only if placed in the Community Wiki (see w:Help:Advanced CSS and JS). If your local global.js works, please let me know. Arkondi (talk) 11:06, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Oh ... that's possible? Good to know. Arkondi (talk) 11:19, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

File usage updater[]

I saw your edit to the script and realized that I completely forgot any customization options on that script. I've updated it with a few customization options for the time being, if you want to import the script page to stay updated with the latest revision of the script. Thanks! -- Foodbandlt 08:10, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

That was more of a wiki-specific issue that I took over into the dev wiki unintentionally. I've removed the bot flag check since. -- Foodbandlt 08:19, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

Coding[]

Hi, may I ask where you learned to code? — FarewellEleven at Wikia Developers Wiki Wiki 18:10, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

None specific. Mostly by looking at others' scripts. ~ UltimateSupreme 18:17, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

OasisSitenotice[]

Thanks for creating OasisSitenotice! I really needed it so thanks! EternalBeast 13:55, August 19, 2013 (UTC)

UnsafeScripts[]

I don't think you should change the functionality so drastically just so it'll work with one other script. What about the people who actually were looking for the original functionality and have been using it that way for a while? ~Bobogoobo (talk) 12:13, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

If they are wanting to use older version, they should already know how to install the older version, as the description page says. The main reason for changing it was to make it confirming to wikia's TOUs so that it could be used site-wide, not for one script only.-- ~ UltimateSupreme 12:29, October 28, 2013 (UTC)
I can't say I've ever had to install an older version before, care to tell me the best way to do so? I think it's unnecessary to force anyone who was using it (I don't know how popular it is) to change that to avoid using the new version. There must be some better way to accommodate that script. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 01:14, October 29, 2013 (UTC)
One more problem with your version, there's no way to apply it when creating new pages. Please tell me the proper way to import the older version, and might as well add it to the script page for good measure. ~Bobogoobo (talk) 20:18, November 3, 2013 (UTC)
If the author didn't wish to give installation instructions on the page, you shouldn't do so. Also there aren't many people you use it. Here you go (You might use IA if you want):
mw.loader.load('http://dev.wikia.com/wiki/UnsafeScripts/code.js?oldid=10960&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

~UltimateSupreme 10:17, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

It didn't seem to work with importArticles, so I just made a new subpage for the older version. I don't see why not including the installation instructions is important since there's a safe mode on it anyway... ~Bobogoobo (talk) 21:12, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

Voice Dictation[]

Yesterday, you updated the code for Voice Dictation/voice.js. The update you rolled out caused the code to not execute properly on certain browsers on wikis which link to that code. I have fixed the problem.

I do not mean to inconvenience you; but please be more careful about testing in the future. If you do not understand how a particular segment of code is designed to work, ask the developer. I will roll out documentation to help prevent this sort of matter again. Deadcoder 15:32, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

You are completely wrong. What I did was fixed it. The one who added the function block was Princess Platinum. So you better talk to them. Please read the diffs carefully before pouncing on someone like that.--~UltimateSupreme 17:01, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry[]

Sorry, both of you have contributed to that block of code, and sometimes one can misread the edit logs. I will talk to that user. Sorry for inconveniencing you. Deadcoder 16:04, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

extension:forum lock request[]

Hi, i was the one asking on community central on if something similar to the oldbloglock extension was avaliable and you gave me the link to the one that was created. there seems to be an issue regarding it being activated prior to the default no response limit of  30 days. I am asking if you could take a look at the code to revise it possibly as there is an error regarding this. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.Nerfmaster8 (talk) 06:40, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

i noted it on the talk page of the extension, but here is the link again: http://dartblasterencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:3063

the issue seems to be that on messagewalls, if i go to the actual messagewall rather than the thread; i can respond otherwise the thread is in a "lock" state.Nerfmaster8 (talk) 06:46, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

lockforums[]

do you think you can provide a fix for messagewalls as well?Nerfmaster8 (talk) 06:22, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

it seems like with the latest fix, everything is okay now. no more issues so far, will let you know of any further issues. thanks for the help :) Nerfmaster8 (talk) 06:30, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

forum lock error[]

i created a thread 2 days ago and highlighted it, now the thread is locked. could you take a look into it? link: http://dartblasterencyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:3069

Nerfmaster8 (talk) 06:54, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't appear locked to me.--~UltimateSupreme 08:31, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

looks like everything cleared up finally, thanks for taking the time to investigate. sorry about that. Nerfmaster8 (talk) 20:47, December 9, 2013 (UTC)

RE:Social Icon images[]

Hey UltimateSupreme. Thanks for reporting that issue. The issue indeed started today with the image uploading issues: our technical team is looking into it. Mark (talk) 19:01, December 10, 2013 (UTC)

SpCSS workspace[]

Thx for the improvement on the script. Do you have an idea how we would be able to get SpCSS workspace#Expansion_Suggestion_1 to work? The problem is that the wrapper is nested with AP elements. What do you think?--Jens Ingels (talk) 18:53, December 14, 2013 (UTC)

An copy actualy doesn't solve the problem. I did an crazy test with the clone function. It didn't gave the result that was needed since it simply doesn't generate the scroll. Their are multiplay AP div's involved with this and the amount of the content actualy calculates based on the content inside of it.--Jens Ingels (talk) 00:08, December 15, 2013 (UTC)

more issues with lockforum[]

i don't know what else to say, nerf wiki installed the same one WITH the cusomized "30 day" lock and still locks everything up. could you please look into getting this fixed or better documentation on implementing it? i know that i have asked many times over this, still issues. sorry for bugging you again over an extention that doesn't fully work :( Nerfmaster8 (talk) 04:16, January 5, 2014 (UTC)

Need help[]

Hello. Um, can you help me with a script you made? It's the ExternalImageLoader. I'm testing it on my test wiki and I think I'm missing something. Oh, and I messaged you on Community Central about something else too. ♚InspiredAndNatural♚Kristi (message me here) 14:53, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Size[]

Is there a way to adjust the picture's size (such as 20px) when using ExternalImageLoader? ♚InspiredAndNatural♚Kristi (message me here)

is it possible?[]

I looked up "upload avatar via url" on Google and saw that it's possible on certain websites. Can there be something like that for Wikia, so I don't have to upload it? ♚InspiredAndNatural♚Kristi (message me here)

S.C?[]

What's S.C? ♚InspiredAndNatural♚Kristi (message me here)

I am really sorry. I promise that I won't spam or troll the sites again.Madara the epic god (talk) 17:42, March 2, 2014 (UTC)

LockForums additions[]

Greetings,

My name is Spottra, and I typically hang out over on the Clash of Clans wiki. We've been having a lot of issues with people reviving ancient forum posts there for a long time, and as a result we have a policy about not posting on threads that were older than 30 days. However, our general rule of thumb has always been that there may be exceptions to the rule, so we were always hesitant about locking the forums automatically after that period.

I'd also noticed that on the old community forums that the old posts had a banner that read something like 'This topic has been unedited for x days. It is considered archived -- the discussion is over. Only comment here if the topic REALLY needs a response.' I'd always liked that phrasing, and I thought it made perfect sense...give people a warning that a particular thread was old, but don't necessarily close it (just in case there really was something that needed to be added).

To that end, I wanted to be able to put a warning message on a thread that was 30 days old or so, but let people post if they really need to. And then after say 180 days, close it for good. So what I've done is add some additional functionality to your LockForums code, although I've not made any modifications to the public version here. You can see the code here: w:c:spottra:LockForums/code.js. I've defined several new fields:

  • ignoreDeletes -- this is a boolean flag that causes the age calculator to ignore deleted messages (currently the age of the forum is calculated based upon the last message, whether it has been deleted or not). Defaults to false.
  • boxHeight -- a custom box height for the warning and expiry messages. Some longer text might not fit in the 50 that was originally defined, so I made that changeable. Defaults to 50.
  • warningDays -- this is the number of days after which the warningMessage will appear in the edit box. The edit box is not disabled at this point. Defaults to 0, which means that it will not appear at all.
  • warningMessage -- this is the message that appears after warningDays (but not after expiryDays).
  • banners -- this is a boolean flag that causes a warning/expiry banner to appear at the top of the forum like the old community forums. The flag currently causes banners to appear for both warnings and expired threads (it's all or none). Defaults to false.
  • expiryBannerMessage -- the banner message that appears at the top of the page when a message has expired.
  • warningBannerMessage -- the banner message that appears at the top of the page when a message has reached the warning period, but has not yet expired.
  • expiryBannerStyle -- if this equals 'stylesheet' no styles will be applied at all (it is assumed that the local wiki will style it via its own CSS stylesheet). Otherwise you can supply a key-value pair list of styles to apply that overrides the defaults.
  • warningBannerStyle -- same as above.
  • warningPopup -- boolean flag that causes a confirmation dialog to appear if people attempt to post to a forum older than warningDays. If they cancel it, the post will not be made. Defaults to false.
  • warningPopupMessage -- the message that the popup will display.

All of these new fields are optional, and if you define none of them the code will behave exactly like the original code. I thought these would be good additions (and you can see them in action on the Clash of Clans Wiki, but before I added them to the public version I wanted to let you know what I was doing and make sure you are okay with it. I hope you like it. 60px-Spsig.png (talk) 11:23, July 3, 2014 (UTC-8)

Hey, I really like it a lot. Yes, you can add it to the script here. I made a small change to the script combining 2 .replace() into one. Just don't forget to update the documentation of the script (in a non-technical way off-course :) ).--~UltimateSupreme 10:01, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, I'll get to work on the documentation. Once that's done I'll copy over the updated script. Thanks for the additions! 60px-Spsig.png (talk) 10:59, July 5, 2014 (UTC-8)
Thank you for the fixes. Forgot to check that my example actually worked. :) 60px-Spsig.png (talk) 18:48, July 7, 2014 (UTC-8)

Script request[]

Hai! I don't know if this is possible, but I'm in need of a custom script for TES Mods wiki. What I'd like the script to do is add a button to the File: namespace so that you can quickly add specific templates to tag them in a manner similar to the Null Edit button script. Would this be possible? Thanks! --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 18:18, August 22, 2014 (UTC)

Oh, nice! The templates which I'd like this script to ajax add to files are: w:c:tes-mods:Template:No license, w:c:tes-mods:Template:No rationale, w:c:tes-mods:Template:Unused and w:c:tes-mods:Template:Poor filename. :) --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 18:35, August 22, 2014 (UTC)
Hey, got another script request. I'm looking at adding a link to the admin dashboard in a more suitable place than the bottom bar, which will only show up if the user has the sysop flag on their account. What kind of api query or code would I need to use to do it? I'd be looking to put the link in the dropdown menu at the top right (where your username is). Thanks! --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 13:06, September 9, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Wikia bar[]

Might be a good idea to revise w:Help:Customization_policy since it says Removal, changed placement or changed functionality of ads, spotlights, Wikia bar, Wikia features. – Ozuzanna 18:09, September 9, 2014 (UTC)

poke[]

Wondering if this would be possible? --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 14:14, October 2, 2014 (UTC)

Currently yeah. But would it be possible to make some alterations so it can do wildcard namespace refreshing?
Also, wondering if you could add a script that allows customised edit toolbar buttons (for the posting form on forums) so people can add their own buttons (like quoting a post) --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 21:06, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

edit links on WLH[]

Can you make a jQuery version of the Javascript function located in this diff, if it's possible?. Would really help me when using WhatLinksHere for link fixing on wiki's :) --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 23:08, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

dropdown menu[]

Hi! I'm wondering if you could possible help with a slight issue. Currently, I'm adding links to my global.js for various special pages, which go next to the links on WikiActivity (eg the See all activity stuff), but it's getting a bit long. Was wondering if you could possibly write a dropdown menu based on CSS that I can add to my global.css/global.js files to make it easier to add additional links. Cheers! --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 15:07, December 16, 2014 (UTC)

Bored[]

Just curious, but why did you remove FileUsageAuto-update from your global JS page? Just looking for ways to make the script better is all and I need feedback. Thanks! — Foodbandlt (talk) 20:41, January 7, 2015 (UTC)

Can you link to the revision? It was probably because I needed it only on one wiki and I enabled it site-wide--~UltimateSupreme 07:22, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
Here. — Foodbandlt (talk) 13:20, January 9, 2015 (UTC)

Answer to edit summary[]

http://dev.wikia.com/wiki/Template:ExternalImageLoader?diff=25018&oldid=25015

Because templates are often structured like this when they don't make sense without parameters given. Arkondi (talk) 18:19, February 22, 2015 (UTC)

Switch Skin Button[]

Would you mind removing the venus button? Wikia scraped that idea as far as I can tell. Thanks, Rider ranger47 15:05, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

LockForums[]

Its talk page has had a section that was left unattended since November, Talk:LockForums#Quoting. Please take a look at it and my answer. -- Dorumin 19:20, April 18, 2016 (UTC)

External Image Loader[]

Hey UltimateSupreme, is it possible to remove the background/border around images imported using ExternalImageLoader? Like if it was not a thumb? Thanks --Original Authority (talk) 00:18, August 19, 2016 (UTC)

You can remove it by overwriting the css you don't want--~UltimateSupreme 18:28, August 20, 2016 (UTC)

TabKeyInserter[]

Hi, I was wondering, can you maybe add an option to make TabKeyInserter work on templates? I was going to fork it as my personal JS, but then I thought other people might find it helpful too. leviathan_89 05:38, April 12, 2017 (UTC)

Doesn't the new editor for templates, css and js already support tabs? Or has it not been activated on all wikis?--~UltimateSupreme 11:29, April 12, 2017 (UTC)
The advance editor (I think that's what it's called) does support tab keys, but it's only used for infoboxes. leviathan_89 12:09, April 12, 2017 (UTC)
